Fleece Handling Prior to Shipment

Within a few days after shearing, each of our fleeces is heavily skirted to remove second cuts and any wool containing unwanted contaminants.  We typically skirt off about one third of the weight of the fleece we shear at any one shearing – that’s a lot of wool! We want to make sure that you can use ALL of what you purchase from us.

After heavy skirting, every fleece is hand-picked to remove any of the small contaminant pieces that may be visible, resulting in a clean, vegetable-matter-free, beautiful fleece, ready for photographing, weighing, and boxing for shipment.  Sample staples for each fleece are randomly selected to reflect the variety within the fleece, tested for strength, and then photographed with the identification card for that fleece and a ruler.  Finally, the fleece is folded and rolled, skin side out, placed in a plastic bag and stored in a temperature controlled climate.  Just prior to shipping, the bag is sealed, boxed, and addressed, ready for transportation to you!  Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments – we are happy to hear from you!

Shipping costs for fleeces direct to your address in the continental U.S. and Canada will be determined and included in your Paypal invoice when you are ready for check-out.  Within the U.S., we typically ship via USPS Priority Mail or Standard Post, depending upon the cost difference between the two. If Standard Post saves one $1.00 or less ,we will typically ship via Priority Mail unless requested otherwise.  If you require two-day or overnight shipping for your fleece(s), please let us know at the time of your order, and we will notify you of additional shipping costs prior to shipment.

Transport of live animals is the responsibility of the buyer unless other arrangements are made.  We do, at times, deliver breeding stock to the purchaser for a fee.  If you are interested in this service, please contact us.
